Introduction of Chhimal Caste : Chhimal are Hindu Brahmin. Chhimals Brahmin are belongs to Garga gotra (clan).


Introduction of Chhimal Caste :छिमाल

Mainly Brahmins are divided into two categories viz. Purbiya (eastern) and Kumai (Came from Kumayu India) and they are further divided into Jaisi and Upadhyaya subcategories along with other cast and clan (Gotra). Nepal, Brahmins are scattered in hilly to Tarai regions between Mechi and Mahakali river.

Chhimals are Hindu Brahmin. Chhimal Brahmins are belongs to Garga Gotra (clan). Chhimals are Shukla Yajurveda readers. The belong to  PANCHA PRAVAR. Chhimal has marital relationships with Chadaula, Nagila, Gouli, Khaniya, Basaula, Chilubal, Sedai, Pantha, Kaini etc.



A legal document  of 1850 VS (1793 AD) states Ramchandra Nagila and Sukadev Nagila purchased a Badha (Bonded Labor) at Rs. 550. This document is witnessed by Ramdutta Nagila, Deusharma Nagila, Shreekrishna Chhimal, Durga Das Nagila and Narad Nagila.

Chhimal Brahmins belong to Garga Gotra. Chhimal may be in that place from last 150 years. Their social status is good. They are scattered in different places 





Shyamgha Village Development Committee (VDC) of  Vyas Municipality, Tanahu is situated along the right shore of Madi river which is the border of Lamjung, Kaski and Tanahu districts of Nepal. Brahmins Like Nagila, Chadaula and Chhimal  who have marital relation with each other are not found in other parts of Nepal are settled in ward 3 and 4 of Shyamgha VDC. Sishaghat Tar is the combined name of previous Chhimaltar, Nagilatar and Chadaulathok


It can be said that Nepal has become a common habitat of people from different caste, ethnic groups, cultures and rituals from ancient times. As per the scriptures related to sages and Brahmins, It could be said that existence of Brahmins in Nepal was found to be from 5000 years ago. Moreover, experts of Hindu mythology, existence of Brahmin was found from 3000 BC, but as per the view of an expert of modern history, existence of them was found from 1200 BC only.
